Hensel Phelps

At Hensel Phelps, you can build a legacy one landmark at a time. We were founded in 1937 and have completed projects all over the United States. Our Western district office opened in Phoenix in 2007.

Our projects include major contracts in the healthcare, infrastructure and transportation, aviation, education, and commercial markets.

As a craftsperson, you have skills we need and value. Our safety record — more than twice as safe as the industry average — reflects the value we put on our craft.

Working at Hensel Phelps is a life-enriching experience – and a rewarding career. In fact, the average length of service of our current employees is almost 14 years. As an employee-owned company, Hensel Phelps is a collaborative environment where employees are empowered to take leadership roles through their entire careers. We offer extensive training, great benefits, the opportunity to build wealth, and a tight-knit culture and community. Whether you’re a recent graduate or an industry vet, you will find a home at Hensel Phelps.

Hensel Phelps is employee owned.

Culture & Values

Everything we build, we build The Hensel Phelps way. It’s more than a mantra – it’s a collaborative approach that blends proven processes, innovative technology and effective communication throughout every phase of the project lifecycle. It is the guiding force behind everything we do – and the reason our clients keep coming back to us with their most important projects.

You won’t find a leading general contractor anywhere that puts a bigger emphasis on worker safety than we do.

The Hensel Phelps Way is built on four pillars.

People

Our people are the most dedicated, knowledgeable, highly-trained, and skilled builders in the country. We develop and nurture “homegrown” talent – the average tenure of a Hensel Phelps employee is 17 years – that allows us to pass down knowledge to each new generation, and allows our employees to develop into masters of their craft through years of experience. Every Hensel Phelps Employee is cross-trained in every aspect of our operation, and every employee shares in our success through ownership.

Process

Our process, developed in close collaboration with our partners and clients, combines industry knowledge, decades of experience, ingenuity and adaptability. Our extensive training, shared knowledge and trust in each other ensure that the Hensel Phelps Way is applied to every project, delivering the quality that our clients expect.

Partnership

At Hensel Phelps, we have longstanding relationships with our clients and our partners – from subcontractors to craft specialists to financing and beyond. We’ve developed these relationships based on mutual respect and earned trust. We work only with trusted professional partners, all of whom are well-versed in the Hensel Phelps Way.

Technology

While the principles of the Hensel Phelps Way originated with our founding in 1937, it is constantly adapting to take advantage of emerging technologies. We are always looking to revamp our tools to create new efficiencies that translate into better value for our clients, faster building schedules and real-time project reporting for progress and financials. Whether it’s using Building Information Models (BIM) or MEO, our real-time, cloud-based, integrated building and management technology solution, utilizing technology is a critical component of the Hensel Phelps Way.

Training Programs

Hensel Phelps recruits highly-motivated, dedicated and ambitious people who want to learn and grow with the company. We are known throughout the industry for our exceptional training program.
